2014 is already full speed ahead!

I was really hoping that 2014 would be a nice long relaxing year because 2013 was just wild! In so many wonderful ways but one cannot live like that every year! But really - where did January go? And I feel like February is already so booked up it will be gone before I know it. I've also reminded Alo that we live so incredibly close to paradise yet we've only seen the beach a total of maybe 5 days since we've been in Thailand and we need to try to change that this year! We explored this country more when we didn't actually live in it! But of course he reminds me of all the other amazing places we have been exploring which is very true but I am ready for some beach time! So here is to time slowing down and seeing more pristine beaches in 2014 :)

Alo is heading to the good ol' US of A tomorrow! I'm always a bit jealous they don't ask the wives to join of course but happy to have some time to get things done at home that I wouldn't normally do when he's around! I'm on a mission to get a desk so I can set up my own office! Working from home either takes place on the couch, bed, or kitchen counter stool because we don't have a kitchen table yet or a desk! Baby steps. I'm thinking a trip to Ikea is in order one evening :)

The magazine has been keeping me super busy and I'm really enjoying it. Learning new things along the way and meeting so many new people in Bangkok. Here is a link to our site if you'd like to check out our latest issue online - click HERE. Below is a photo of some of our team at the magazine from our January event - New Year, New You!

I also am doing a 30 day online course to learn about freelance writing and how to market yourself and get more jobs so in my free time I'm trying to catch up and read the daily lessons (1 per day). I would love to eventually get published by a travel magazine or site I follow so I figured this would be a good learning experience and help me reach my goals.

Alo and I are trying to get back into a healthy lifestyle and working out consistently again which we are excited about! I'm also trying out this whole 'juicing' fad tomorrow by purchasing about 6 different kinds from a company called Me Juice here in Bangkok. I'm not doing the 'juice cleanse' but just simply replacing breakfast or another meal/snack with a juice to see how they taste and make me feel! To be honest the only juice I have tried from a different company here was horrible in my opinion - so I'm hoping these are a bit tastier ; ) I'll keep you posted!

In case you aren't up to date on your Thailand news - there have been protests happening here in Bangkok all the way back to Thanksgiving. I won't bore you with all the details since after all, that is what the news sites are for.The protests have seemed to stop since the elections on Sunday however the "concerts" as I like to call them are still in full force as well as the road blocks. I refer to them as concerts or festivals because all throughout the day people are on stage singing and bands are performing, tons of food vendors have lined the streets as well as locals selling any attire that is red, white and blue. Conveniently, the colors are our national colors as well so I've made sure to pick up a couple pieces to sport on July 4th! We are starting to wonder when all the protests will ever end. But as long as the one in our neighborhood stays peaceful we are ok with it. Here is a quick video I snapped when walking by the other day.

I'm really hoping to back track and catch up on so many blog posts I never got around to writing such as India, Bhutan, Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai and Hua Hin! Don't be surprised if the trips happened months ago ; )

Hope everyone is surviving the polar vortex and keeping warm back in the states! The hot and humid weather is back in Bangkok and here to stay. I really enjoyed the cool months of December and January - I occasionally even got to wear a light scarf or cardigan without sweating!

And one last thing - Happy Birthday to my Dad!! Hopefully Mom will be reading this out loud to you since we all know you are technologically challenged and don't use a computer ; ) Love you lots and wish I could be there to celebrate!

xoxo
